In case you didn’t know, JoJo has just opened a brand new store in Horsham. We caught up with our new JoJo store manager Kiley to find out her favourite things to do in in this lovely town. Don’t forget you can find all the store details here. We hope to see you soon!
Where is your favourite place to eat in Horsham?
There are too many to mention! Probably The Bagel Cafe in Waterstones for breakfast or lunch, I love that you can find a cosy corner and browse the books. Bill’s is great for a family meal, and The Black Jug serves great food too. For something truly special, Tristan’s is the place to go.
What is your favourite shop in Horsham?
I love to have a coffee and a wander around The Cloud Gallery, some of the artwork is fascinating! I love Crates too. It is a good old fashioned grocer’s that sells local produce and their displays are always a feast for the eyes. They have a small coffee shop attached which tends to be quieter than some of the larger cafes.
Where is your favourite place to go on a rainy day?
The cinema, especially during the daytime. The Capitol in Horsham even does Baby Cinema which regularly show films on a Tuesday morning where parents can go and take their baby with them.
Where is your favourite place to go on a sunny day?
We have a great market on a Saturday, selling local crafts and produce and amazing street food. So if it is sunny, I love to wander in to town via the park, and see what is happening. There are often bands playing in the bandstand, places to eat and drink al fresco, and we have some great festivals and events throughout the year. Piazza Italia which is on over the Easter weekend is my favourite.
Can you recommend any playgroups?
There are so many great playgroups in Horsham, we are spoilt for choice! Little Monkeys, Busy Bees, Giggles, Head start, Little Barn Owls, Jack and Jill to name but a few. My niece went to Little Monkeys and loved it!
Can you recommend places to meet other mums / parents?
Joining groups is a fantastic way to meet other parents. Horsham Library runs Toddler Time and Rhyme Time, there is the Spring Board project, baby massage groups, and swimming classes. Busylizzie is just starting in Horsham too, which is a great way to meet other parents. It is a membership based group that provides classes such as baby yoga, massage, sign, music and art. They also do fitness classes that you can take your baby along to. It is flexible in that you can pick and mix your classes. Fantastic!
Any great support networks ?
There are many support groups in Horsham; NCT, TAMBA, and also online, netmums.com is a great source of information for parents. It lists local groups, childcare providers, local events and support groups. There is also The Springboard Project in Hurst Road which is a community based charity that offers a fantastic play and recreation centre for all children, including those with disabilities. There are various play lounges, soft play, a sensory room and even a garden with ride alongs. There is a kitchen for parents to help themselves to refreshments, so It really does offer a home from home environment, but provides a fantastic information and support system for all families. The first visit is free, so I highly recommend a visit.
What local children’s charities do amazing work for the community?
The Springboard Project, our very own FAMTA, and Horsham Matters is a charity that recently opened a store in town, specialising in furniture, equipment, clothes and toys for babies and children. We also have Action Medical Research, a local group that do a tremendous job funding medical research to combat illness and disabilities in children.
What are you most looking forward to being manager of the new Horsham branch?
As a local girl myself, I understand the sense of community we have in Horsham. I am so excited to be able to provide our local families with a place that is theirs, somewhere fun, informative, supportive, and with great service. Myself and the team are all very proud of the store and cannot wait to meet our customers!
What is your favourite JoJo product?
It has to be the classic, Muslin square! Simple I know, but for any new mum they are essential. At JoJo we offer a fantastic range of designs, but my favourite is the large one. You can use it to swaddle, to lay baby on, as a feeding scarf, to mop up and protect clothing… they even come in their own matching bag. Love them!
