YOU WILL NEED:

  • Paper templates (download ours here)
  • Scissors
  • Black card
  • Pencil or chalk
  • Sticky tape
  • Straws

Tips for telling a bedtime story:

  • Use an event that happened during the day as the plot
  • Try to resolve any issues that came up through the story
  • Make your child a character
  • Ask your child to contribute noises (e.g. ask what sound the owl makes)
  • Use the story as an opportunity to discuss something in a lighthearted way (e.g. losing a first tooth)
  • Tailor the story to your child’s personality (eg. are they adventurous, artistic, sporty or quiet?)
  • Always end on a happy note
  • Kids love repetition – tell the story over and over so your child can anticipate the end
