Because you love our kids’ outfits so much, we recently launched our shop by outfit feature. If you’re looking for a little inspiration, be sure to check out the looks we’ve put together. We caught up with our in-house photographer Eimear to find out the inspiration behind our gorgeous images and her tips on creating the perfect outfit for your little one.
What is your favourite outfit from the collection?
My favourite pieces are nearly always the leggings as they are so practical and come in such cute designs; I wish they made them in my size! So I would have to go with an outfit of some colourful leggings paired with a cosy cardigan and one of the very cool fisherman’s jackets, topped with a pair of wellies of course so they can splash in as many puddles as they want.
Where do you look for inspiration?
Everywhere! I definitely pay attention to what colour schemes are relevant for the season, but when I’m shooting the outfits I always start by looking at what applique designs we have on our kids’ tops and see what themes we can build around them. In terms of styling I keep an eye on trends on both high street and high fashion, but I focus on what I’m trying to highlight in a piece of clothing and really utilise its shape and how it would move when worn. Most important is to keep it looking fun.
What are your tips for putting together a chic outfit?
One of my favourite things about our kids’ collection is how we run designs and patterns through a collection so you can match a bright floral raincoat to a pair bright floral wellies for example, and pair this with some block colour pieces. That being said you don’t want to go overboard with the matching, so try steer clear of an outfit that’s all one colour!
What can we expect from the kids’ collection this season?
Lots of colour, lots of dinosaurs and lots of cosy knits perfect for a British summer.
Which pieces would you say are the most versatile?
Our Breton tops are such a classic and they can be paired with anything, and I love that they are unisex. For boys I think the dungarees are so cute and practical, and for girls I would have to choose the leggings.
